It seems that China pressured Indonesian government about bullet train. Indonesia wanted safer train and better system of Japan first but it couldn't stop refusing demand of China.

Whenever I hearabout Japan falling all over itself to get high speed train contracts, I think about the countries in which the projects are to be built. Can they manage the infrastructure? Can they build structures reliably so that they won't falldown? Is life cheap, or is safety first? Can operators follow directions reliably? Can operators be chosen by merit rather than nepotism or other connections?
And time aftertime, I resign myself to the fact that Japan should probably not be taking ultimate responsibility for building these systems in countries that have proven that they can't handle them. What China can provide and what Indonesia seems to want are an excellent match. Japan can find better partners, probably. And if not, at least they can avoid having to clean up someone else's mess.

Some JT postershad previously made derogatory comments about Chinese products and services being "crap" (you know who you are).
But nobody would buy millions and billions worth of crappy products, especially for safe publicuse. Which means Chinese products and services are not the stereotypical crappy copycat nonsense, but are fast becoming cutting edge top value reliable brands, as more and more nations (USA and Europe too) are choosing Chinese products andservices over less-innovative and financially burden some Japanese ones...... whileenvious Japan can only watch its own fate sinking and losing to China in every sector and way each day by many times over.

Don't get confused between quality and price. China makes garbage but its cheap and that』s why people buy it. China can sell cheap stuff because it controls its own exchange rate. If it hadn't been for Lehmans in 2008 that destroyed the exchange rates for Japan and other countries then China would have never had this chance I think.
For Indonesia to choose China over Japan says nothing about Chinas skill in high speed railways but says more about people wanting cheap over quality (and perhaps as wtf japansays, a little incentive from the China side)

不要將質量與價格混同了。中國製造垃圾產品，然而廉價，所以人們購買。中國之所以能銷售廉價產品，那是因為中國控制著自己的匯率。要不是2008年的雷曼兄弟搗毀了日本以及其他國家的匯率，那麼我認為中國將永遠沒有這樣的就會。
印尼選取中國不選取日本，這並不能說明中國的高鐵技術有多厲害，只能說明人們為了價格可以拋卻質量（還說明了中國方面可能還提供了一些小小的激勵）。

Buying a Chinesemade consumer product is one thing, But a mass transit system where an accident could result in hundreds of casualties is something else. In some countriesthat would be a very big deal, in other countries not so much.
購買中國製造的消費品是一回事，購買公共運輸系統則是另一回事，因為公共運輸系統一旦發生事故就能致使大量人員傷亡。在某些國家這個問題很受注重，而在其他國家則不受注重。
